What secret can that be?
she should refrain from Nolan too
This was an excellent story. Loved the funny sarcastic humor. I highly recommend this book, it's at the top of my list in regards to Mafia stories. Great job author.
Jack is crazy about this. What is wrong with him?
I need to talk about Zhao Chengze for a minute because WOW. The way the author writes him is so restrained but so loaded. He doesn't say much, but every action is charged. He sits in Wangjiang Tower, watching her through the window, and the narration tells us "A faint smile curved Zhao Chengze's lips, one he did not even realize." That's it. That's all. But it hits like a truck. This man has been thinking about her persistently, the text tells us. Before the broken engagement incident even. So whatever happened between them in the past—the engagement that was broken, the rumors, the gossip—it clearly left a mark on HIM, not just on her. And now he's positioning himself as her benefactor, her investor, her protector, all while watching her from a distance like some kind of tragic romance novel protagonist. But let's also talk about Xie Qingyan's emotional journey, because it's not just about romance. Her interaction with her father is devastating in its quietness. She doesn't fight him. She doesn't cry. She just sighs softly and says, "Very well. I dare not disobey Father's command." And then the narration tells us she sneered inwardly. She sees through him completely. She knows his promises are conditional, that his support is transactional. And she plays along anyway, because this is HER plan all along. There's this moment where their gazes meet through the veil and the text says: "Her voice came from behind the gauze, clear as jade beads falling upon a plate, calm and without the slightest ripple." The metaphor is so precise. She's composed, but underneath that calm, there's something hard and precious and valuable. The CP chemistry here is built on restraint and observation rather than direct interaction. They haven't even properly met yet, and the tension is already palpable. Zhao Chengze is studying her like a puzzle he wants to solve. She's studying him right back, noting Thirteen's soldier-like discipline, reading the situation with sharp eyes. Neither is backing down. Neither is performing femininity the way everyone expects. This is two people who see each other clearly, even through layers of gauze.
thank you for update ...️
Great story!
It’s a good story. The plot is full of suspense, twists and spicy scenes. Good job author.
Por favor en español, no tengo buen nivel de lectura en inglés
I really love this book! There are plenty of great moments, several little twists I didn’t see coming and a few times I held my Breath while on the edge of my seat then exhaled as relief washed over me. Can’t wait for more chapters!
I love this book
I’ve been waiting * impatiently * for this book to come out! I definitely Stan Silvercloud.
This book is wonderful. I am impatient for it to be finished (lol) but I love the thoughtfulness the author has put in to character development. You love then hate then love a character again. They’re people w emotions and wrong assumptions. Brilliant writing. Love the book. Well done.
