I just started reading this but I Know it's going to be interesting
The pacing in this chapter is deceptively simple but honestly kind of masterful. It starts with a rapid-fire sequence—'The second rabbit. The third. The fourth...'—and that repetition creates this driving rhythm, like you're watching her work and the count just keeps going. She doesn't stop until six. Then the wild chicken passes by and she's 'still unwilling to give up,' which adds this little beat of momentum before she finally spots the nest. But then the real pacing shift happens when she heads下山. Up until now it's been this steady hunt-hunt-hunt energy, but once she's on the ground with the blood smell problem, the tempo changes completely. It becomes this slow-burn tension where every person she might encounter is a potential threat. The author controls the reader's heartbeat through structure alone—fast counting, then a pause for the eggs, then this extended sequence of her trying to get home unnoticed. There's no cliffhanger at the end, but the chapter leaves you with this lingering anxiety about whether she'll actually make it without being discovered. That's a different kind of hook, and I think it works really well for a chapter that's mostly about survival logistics rather than big plot moments.
I am blown away! This is the best all-in-one fantasy book I've ever read in this app! I'm so addicted with the plot and the characters. It is very well-written and I strongly recommend it to young adult readers!
