exciting story????
both books are amazing stories beautifully written by Cass. first I fell in love with Cath&Tyler's story, only after that to unexptedly enjoying Alice&Joshua's journey in growth and becoming better. The stories are more complex with multiple characters povs, Cass taking care of \\"side\\" characters too
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely relentless and I mean that in the best possible way. Let me walk through how the author structures this sequence because it's genuinely impressive craft. Chapter 12 starts slow — Gu Anyun can't sleep, texts her friend, they chat for half an hour. It's domestic, cozy, almost boring. And that's the trap. The author lulls you into this warm feeling of friendship and normalcy before absolutely demolishing it in Chapter 13. The accident happens in the middle of a completely mundane moment. She's in a car, stuck in traffic, complaining about being late for a divorce appointment. The red light seems unusually long. She asks about a detour. And then — BANG. One sentence. "Bang! The sound of a collision, accompanied by sharp honking, threw the entire line of cars into chaos!" No foreshadowing, no slow build. Just sudden, violent disruption. Then Chapter 14 jumps us to the hospital, and the pacing shifts again. Three days of unconsciousness compressed into summary, then a single detailed scene of Jin Chenyue at her bedside. The author knows exactly when to speed up and when to slow down. What's clever is how the divorce timeline creates natural tension. We know they're supposed to meet at nine. We watch the traffic jam. We watch the accident happen. And then we're at the Civil Affairs Bureau with Jin Chenyue checking his watch, wondering if she's backing out. The dramatic irony is exquisite — we know she's in the hospital, but he doesn't, and every minute he waits is a minute of agonizing uncertainty. The chapter endings are also perfectly placed. Chapter 12 ends with her falling asleep — a false sense of security. Chapter 13 ends with the phone call delivering the worst possible news. Chapter 14 ends mid-scene, with Jin Chenyue about to tell her parents, creating a cliffhanger that demands the next chapter. The only minor complaint I have is that the three-day unconsciousness period feels slightly rushed. I wanted more scenes of Jin Chenyue at the hospital, more moments of him confronting his feelings. But I suppose that's just me wanting more, and the author clearly has bigger plans for the narrative.
I have a feeling a time jump is going to happen and I hope it’s going to be Stella leaves and Keagan remembers her lol
Is Tyler trying to make her go crazy? he definitely loves hurting her. If he secretly loves her, why keep torturing her for fun especially when she has memory loss? I hope it later comes out that she didn't really do everything she's accused of.
