Loves every second of this ...
Okay so let me just say this: the scene where Su Wanqing reads Lu Yan's note is one of those moments that sits in your chest like a stone. Six words. That's all he wrote. "We will discuss it when I return." Not "I believe you." Not "I'm on your side." Not even "I'm worried about you." Just... a promise to talk later, delivered through Lin Man like some kind of bureaucratic relay race. And the worst part? She keeps replaying it. What does "discuss" mean? Has he already heard Su Weiwei's version? Is he angry? Does he doubt her? The reader is left hanging right alongside her, and honestly that's masterful emotional manipulation from the author. But here's what really got me — Su Weiwei's performance in that infirmary bed. The way she says "I told Chief Lu everything. It was my own carelessness" while simultaneously making sure everyone knows she told Chief Lu everything. It's gaslighting as an art form. She's rewriting history in real time, casting herself as the noble victim who takes the blame, while quietly ensuring that every person in that room walks away thinking Su Wanqing is the villain. And Lin Man — oh my god, Lin Man. "Because Lu Yan and I grew up together. That bond isn't something someone like you, who married in midway, can compare with!" COME ON. The audacity is breathtaking. She literally changes from "Chief Lu" to "Lu Yan" right in front of Su Wanqing like she's trying to mark territory. This is giving major rival energy and I am HERE for it. The emotional tension between Su Wanqing and Lu Yan is basically a live wire at this point. She trusts him — "I trust his judgment" — but trust without communication is just anxiety wearing a disguise. And that rain scene at the end? Her walking back through the storm, soaked, note clenched in her pocket, mind in a "tangled mess"? The author really said let's make the weather match the emotional turbulence and Irespect it.
