Okay so let me just say—Chen Sunye is one of the most interesting characters introduced and I am already OBSESSED. The way the author handles his POV is *chef's kiss*. He's sitting on that train, this tall imposing military guy who radiates danger, and he's been searching for Jiang Wan for TWO YEARS. Two years! And the moment he sees her, he can't look away. But here's the thing that got me—the author never gives us his internal monologue directly. We only see him through Jiang Wan's terrified perspective. She thinks he's some criminal trafficking women. She literally runs away from him. And he's just standing there holding her forgotten introduction letter, looking at a photo of her, wondering if she's really already engaged. The gap between how she sees him (threat) and how he actually is (someone who just wants to offer his blessings) is SO delicious. Then there's the moment he steps over her knees to help that old woman with her luggage. That single action tells us everything—his body language is protective, careful, aware of her space. He says sorry when his leg brushes her knee. He's not some cold brute; he's restrained, polite, and clearly harboring feelings. Meanwhile Jiang Wan is sitting there thinking about how she's already engaged to someone else, completely missing the fact that this man has been looking for her. The tragedy of it all. I need to know more about their history.
