Wataru finds himself transported to a new world after death, bestowed with a flawed ability. His primary goals are to indulge in a luxurious, leisurely lifestyle and build a harem. The storyline is rather straightforward, verging on cliché. However, the crux of the issue lies in how a lazy, timid, and inexperienced individual, given immense ease to attain his objectives, would react.
Predictably, there's little progression or character growth over nearly 20 volumes. The protagonist slowly loses inhibitions, but that's about it. It's understandable, considering the abundance of resources and low-risk, low-effort strategy at his disposal. Unfortunately, as the story progresses, the protagonist's thought process becomes increasingly unappealing.
The initial premise holds potential, with intriguing characters that stand out, save for the protagonist. The problem lies in limited perspectives, as most of the narrative revolves around Wataru, leaving others underdeveloped. It's a shame, as their unique qualities go underutilized.
I absolutely adore this novel. It's an incredibly well-crafted and captivating read, with an outstanding storyline. I initially got intrigued by the story due to its promising beginning, with the main character (MC) appearing determined and strong. However, as the narrative progressed, I found myself increasingly disappointed. The MC's character development took a stark turn – his thoughts and actions became almost单一-minded, revolving solely around the love interest (ML). The chemistry between them didn't convince me, and the MC's lack of interests, aspirations, or distinct personality traits made him seem one-dimensional.
The supporting cast was equally shallow, with everyone else falling short of engaging. The only character who showed some depth was the MC's female friend, who had clear goals for her future. It's disheartening how the MC couldn't even meet this basic requirement for empathy and relatability.
The plot itself was thin, driven mainly by the MC's fear of death, but he was passive in addressing it rather than taking any proactive steps. The story felt monotonous and uneventful, leaving me questioning why I invested so much time into it. Now, looking back, it's almost laughable. I can't help but regret the time I've wasted on this. I wish I could reclaim that lost time.
