This author writes in a way that is something different from the others. Her first book drew me in and this second book is just as amazing.

Can we talk about how Pei Yan talks? The man has exactly three gears: silent, practical, and firmly practical. He doesn't do flowery. He doesn't do romantic monologues. He does logistics. "Go and take care of it first." — After almost kissing her, when she's having a medical emergency. Priorities. "Small problems easily turn into bigger ones if left untreated. Women should pay extra attention to their health." — This is his version of a love letter. This is him being vulnerable. He's basically saying I care about your wellbeing in the most Pei Yan way possible. "You're my wife; you represent the Pei family's dignity whenever you step outside. I'm simply ensuring the family maintains its proper standing. There's no need for you to feel pressured." — Translation: I bought you cars because I want you to be comfortable and I'm giving you an excuse that won't make you feel like you owe me anything. The man cannot express affection directly. He wraps every caring action in practical reasoning like a present in three layers of wrapping paper. And Wen Zhiyu? She sees right through it but plays along. "The embarrassment was still there, but seeing how calm and composed Pei Yan remained helped steady her nerves." She appreciates his composure even when she doesn't understand his methods. Teacher Shen's dialogue is a completely different flavor. She's warm but sharp, authoritative but not cold. "You child…" she says to Song Xiaohe with this perfect mix of exasperation and affection. And when she's testing Wen Zhiyu on the painting, she's genuinely invested in her growth: "Very good—your eyes are sharper than your supervisor's." That's not just praise; that's a mentor recognizing talent. Gu Xingzhou's voice is smooth, polished, slightly performative. Even his compliment about Wen Zhiyu feels like it's been rehearsed. "Your name is still on the school's honor roll—of course I remember you." The dash is doing a lot of work there. It's like he's surprised even himself that he remembers her. The contrast between Pei Yan's clipped practicality and Gu Xingzhou's polished charm is the whole romantic tension right there. One man shows love through action. The other shows interest through words. And Wen Zhiyu is learning which one she actually trusts.

This is my first review.
I actually didn't understand the 3 and 5. The story is very good and concise, with a bittersweet tone at times. There's no drama or third-party interference, just a significant misunderstanding between two boys—one who loves openly and the other who loves secretly, wanting to protect his feelings like a hidden moonlight.
I love this author's works, so I have high hopes for this one. I’m currently on chapter 40 on MTL, and while my rating might change later, so far, it’s been great. I enjoy female-oriented cultivation novels with hardworking protagonists. This novel reminds me of the K-drama "Extraordinary You," where a side character tries to fight against "fate" (the plotline of the original story). In the novel's universe, the main character (MC) transmigrates into a world that sees her as a bug in the system—something that shouldn’t exist beyond its predetermined role (cannon fodder that dies early), and thus, it tries to eradicate her. Even if the MC achieves anything good, she doesn’t have the same luck as the original male lead. Her enemy is fate itself, which wants her existence gone, and I find that concept very intriguing.
