Okay so this batch is absolutely wild. Chen Yu's rebirth storyline is giving me major 'I'm gonna fix everything this time' energy and I am HERE for it. The way the author reveals his past life through fragmented memories while he's recovering from a nightmare? Chef's kiss. We get the Chen family execution, the false armor-hoarding charge, Chen Yu surviving under a fake identity, and then—BAM—he burns the Taiping Min Dian to ashes. That encyclopedia took Wu Junji TEN YEARS to compile, over a hundred million characters, and Chen Yu destroyed it all in one fire. The revenge motivation is crystal clear and it's making me so tense because I already know these two have a complicated history. But then the plot pivots HARD to the imperial palace and baby Wu Junji's storyline and I was NOT ready for this twist. The Emperor declaring Wu Junji the eldest prince over Prince Zheng? The timing reveal—born just one hour earlier on the same day?—is such a clever narrative device. And the whole setup with Noble Consort Dong hiding her pregnancy until three months in? That's the kind of detail that makes you go 'oh THAT's why everything went sideways.' The author is layering these cause-and-effect chains like a puzzle and I'm obsessed. The prophecy scene with Abbot Tianxuan declaring Wu Junji 'born with the destiny of an emperor' is the kind of moment that makes you sit up straight. It raises the stakes to an insane level because now we're talking about something that can't be changed by human schemes. The Retired Emperor's internal panic about this is palpable even though we're mostly seeing it through actions rather than direct narration.
I was amazed to read a unique kind of novel. the story, the plot keeps on getting interesting.
