Imagine doing that journey twice. The author does something really smart here: the stakes are incredibly concrete and immediate. This isn't about saving the world or anything abstract. It's about pride, duty, and not wanting to do all that hard work again. But it feels just as tense because you understand exactly what's on the line. Lei Jianguo's reaction—nearly bursting into tears—tells you everything about how much this matters to them. And underneath that external conflict, there's Yueyue's internal one. She's a transmigrator in a postpartum body, struggling to adapt to a life she never chose, dealing with physical discomfort and cultural shame (covering herself while breastfeeding, the horror of not being able to wash for a month). Her conflict is quieter but no less real. She's trying to find her place in a family where the men are out risking humiliation over grain inspection and she's stuck inside, learning to be a mother to twins she may or may not feel connected to yet. Both conflicts run in parallel and somehow amplify each other.
I just love this book and have read it before! Its SO good and a great steamy romance!
I hate that I started reading this book. The author has been dragging this book out beyond what should be allowed. I just want to get to the end of this gd book so it's finished and then I'm never reading another book on these type of apps. The author and app devs should be ashamed of themselves.
