Great Read sometimes a bit confusing but its a must!
The protagonist seems interesting, I hope it's good
It's a ridiculous story. Not worth reading. I read until the 45th chapter and I still haven't seen a decent main character. Waste of time.
it is written well, and there are memorable scenes, but this work in no way comparable to RI, SS or LoTM or any top novel,
it is full of generic chinese wuxia cliches, it reuses the same plots, the three main arcs are literally repeating itself with some characters and names different, the story is not finished yet, but we all know how it will end and go forward. Unless author creates another world yet above the world above the world, to keep milking the story.
cultivation and progression system is boring and MC has godly cheat above all else from the very first day, anyway he is more interested in chasing skirts than becoming stronger, so he will amass a massive harem of concubines and wives.
Can't say it was not an enjoyable read, but if we compare it with food, this is fast noodles, there is no depth or complexity, it can be fun or boring at times.
The character seems to be expressing confusion about the main character (MC) continuing to stay with the old man in Chapter 3. Initially, the MC sought shelter, but after a single night, the situation changed. The character points out that the old man's possessions, like the desert wolf's pelt, which can fetch around 10 silver taels, should allow the MC to afford a new house without depending on the old man. They also mention the MC's newfound alchemy skills, suggesting that they could potentially protect themselves better.
The writer feels frustrated by what they perceive as the MC's overly cautious behavior, questioning why the MC is still showing loyalty to the old man, especially considering the potential risks to their safety due to their unique abilities. The writer believes the MC should prioritize their own self-preservation, even if it means not prioritizing the old man's well-being.
If you appreciate the charm of Jane Austen or Georgette Heyer's works, you'll likely find this novel delightful! The author strikes a perfect balance between lighthearted whimsy and an engaging mystery. The pacing is brisk, and each chapter keeps you entertained.
What impresses me the most are the well-developed characters. They are multi-dimensional, with their own thoughts and motivations, even for the less savory characters who have plausible reasons behind their actions. The main character is a joy to read about – she's witty and intelligent. The romantic connection between her and the hero develops naturally, without resorting to love-at-first-sight clichés; it grows gradually as they spend time together.
I don't understand why some folks consider the book lengthy – it has just 400 chapters, compared to some that exceed 1500. For a Chinese novel, I'd say that's quite reasonable. And let's not forget, the translation is top-notch!
