"My Extraordinary Achievements" is a thought-provoking and humorous novel that delves into the eccentric life of a man named Ignatius J. Reilly, a socially awkward, intellectually passionate, yet underachieving protagonist. The story, set in post-World War II New Orleans, is a satirical exploration of societal norms, ambition, and the human condition.
Through Ignatius's eyes, we witness his relentless pursuit of knowledge and his peculiar way of navigating the world. His extraordinary achievements, though unconventional, stem from his unwavering dedication to the classics, literature, and his own unique interpretations of them. The novel serves as a commentary on the paradoxical nature of success, as Ignatius's unorthodox approach to life often lands him in absurd situations.
The author, Walker Percy, masterfully employs humor to expose the absurdity of societal expectations, making readers laugh at themselves and their own quirks. At its core, "My Extraordinary Achievements" is a poignant reminder that true fulfillment comes not from external validation but from pursuing one's passions with integrity and authenticity.
This book invites readers to reflect on their own values and priorities, encouraging self-examination and a deeper understanding of what truly constitutes an extraordinary life. It's a delightful and insightful read that leaves a lasting impression, reminding us all that sometimes, the extraordinary lies in the everyday moments and the courage to be different.
Tbh this novel has a lot of potential if the grammar and error in some paragraph were fixed. Other than that, I think it will be good if the readers could be given a map of the current world that Su yang was in. Because the author kept on mentioning some city names but we(readers) don't understand where they came from or how they exist. The lack of detail will resulted in confusion among the readers.
Exactly its only bang bang with no substance its all hollow , its something that the author needs to repair fast ... cz its a deal breaker the longer u read the more u feel like its a mindless h*ntai with no material but just total chaos and c*pulating
I agree with the point of it becoming boring around ~100 chapters in, nothing really interesting happen, he flirts with differents girls and it's too much :/
I finished.Although the ending was rushed, it is still among the top 10 novels I have read
What happens to the golem girl in the end
At first it was a very interesting novel - altough it is a complete ripoff of I’m Really Not The Demon God’s Lackey. The basic premise is that the bookstore owner is actually the strongest god in existence but he does not know that. He exchanges knowledge for a myriad of items and sometimes money, and the misunderstandings were kind of funny. There is a lot of nationalism (the Federal Empire, which is clearly China, is the strongest, wisest, kindest and best country in the world and everyone wants to be part of it), but it is bearable. The worst is: almost every male character is incompetent and dumb, and the females do everything right (not in the nice way, but in the creepy, want to be part of the harem way). And the author starts to use World of Warcraft (the literal story) and Warhammer 40k because he does not have creativity anymore.Kinda nice for the first 150~170 first chapters, tr*sh after that.
This is also the reason i dislike this Novel, maybe if you are Stronger individually, you will hesitate to make trouble. But, you can control people with Fearing you because of your Strength. Even if you can't make them fear you, atleast they will think thrice to provoke you. Not just received their abuses.
we need m*** and more of them please and if you can
