interesting storyline
I need to talk about Pei Yuezhou because this man is a walking contradiction and I am HERE for it. On one hand, he's the most possessive, controlling husband ever—keeping Yu Zhi confined at home, glaring at his assistants who even LOOK at her, checking her temperature like she's some fragile thing. On the other hand, he's the one who went abroad specifically to protect her from the Song Family danger. He schemed, he resorted to force, he made their marriage a hollow facade—but the text explicitly says 'this Yu Zhi was the real one. The one he'd moved heaven and earth to keep by his side.' That line wrecked me. But the moment that absolutely destroyed me was when he catches her drinking from HIS bowl. The text says his gaze darkened as it lingered on her soft lips pressed against the rim—the same spot his own had just touched. And then he just... quietly adds fish balls and greens to her bowl and says nothing. This man is so painfully in love it actually hurts to read about him. And Yu Zhi? The transformation from the 'lifeless shell' Butler Li describes to this vibrant, cookie-baking, drama-bingeing woman is everything. Pei Yuezhou had secretly had her DNA tested because he couldn't believe she'd stopped loving him. He thought she'd been replaced. But she wasn't replaced—she just stopped feeling anything. And now she's back, and he doesn't know if her love came back with her. That uncertainty in his eyes when he looks at her? Chef's kiss.

This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotional from sad/angry/ passionate/scared and so much more. As these Nevaeh finds her strength and love while there are forces trying to hurt them. Tyron is a jerk but redeems himself .
