I need to talk about the dialogue in these chapters because it is absolutely phenomenal. Song Zhimian's speech in front of Wen Shaoqing, Song Kaishan, and Madame Ding is one of the most satisfying pieces of writing I've encountered. Let me just quote this gem: "From a public perspective, the safety of Beidi is tied to the safety of Dayu. As citizens of Dayu, isn't it our duty to contribute what little we can? The soldiers in Beidi fight bravely to protect us, don't they? For this reason alone, what does a mere dowry matter?" This is her using her father's own moral framework against him. She's not just defending her choice—she's trapping him. If he objects, he's opposing the Emperor's commendation and showing disrespect to the soldiers of Beidi. Every line she speaks is a checkmate move. And the dialogue between the onlookers outside the gates? Perfect. It gives us exposition about Song Zhimian's miserable life, her future as a replacement wife, and the general public perception of her situation—all through casual gossip. That's how you do worldbuilding through dialogue. Wen Shaoqing's voice is also distinct. She's sharp, authoritative, and completely unflappable. Her line about taking the plaque back if the marquis has objections is delivered with such calm menace. And Song Kaishan's forced politeness—"Your Excellency Wen, please come inside to talk!"—while internally sweating bullets—that contrast between his outward composure and inner panic is hilarious and terrifying. The narrative voice itself is clean and unobtrusive. It doesn't over-explain or moralize. It just lets the characters' words and actions speak for themselves. I love this style.

beautiful love story, so deep and pure. After everything they had their happily ever after ending. I love the chemistry between the two, didn't want the story to end. kudos to the writer, u dis justice to it.
