dropped? well, gud bai author, hope there will be updates in the future who knows when...
Okay let's talk stakes because this book is playing 4D chess with tension and I am HERE for it. On the surface, the conflict seems simple: a sickly city girl in the countryside trying to survive. But the author keeps raising the stakes in ways that make you genuinely anxious. First layer: physical survival. Wen Qinghe can't even walk to the weeding plot without her breathing turning ragged. The brigade captain assigns her the lightest work possible—'about an hour by an ordinary person'—but even that seems like a death sentence for her body. Every scene in the fields is laced with the question: how much can she take before she collapses? Second layer: social survival. Liu Meili is already hostile, envious of the cabinet Yan Xiao made for Wen Qinghe. The other educated youths are watching. In this environment, being weak isn't just uncomfortable—it's dangerous. The text notes that 'even a delicate flower without proper care would quickly wither,' and that's not poetic language, that's a threat. Third layer: the mystery stakes. What IS that space? What happens when the hourglass runs out? Is she going home, or is this her permanent reality? The author never answers, and that uncertainty creates a background hum of anxiety throughout every scene. But the most effective conflict is the internal one. Wen Qinghe wants to go home—she literally cries thinking about it. But she's also trying to adapt, to find joy in blueberries and sweet potato porridge. The conflict between her desire to return and her need to survive in the present is what makes every moment feel fragile. When Yan Xiao says 'Why did you come to the countryside? With this body, isn't it ridiculous?'—he's voicing what the reader is thinking. What is the point of all this suffering? And yet, she keeps going. She keeps trying. That's where the real stakes live—not in whether she dies or survives, but in whether she loses herself in the process.
rarely does a first chapter so perfectly highlight the contents of the book. I'm generally a fan of framed stories, I've read quite a few that use this literary technique. This was a masterful use of it.
The legend of magikarp our one true god. The upbringing of my sovereign ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Sorry the idea behind the story is great but the grammar ruins everything. It is bad to a point even some mtl novels make more sense. So dear author get yourself an editor asap because at the moment it is impossible to read.
To be honest, this is not good, like it's really bland... I do not understand how it is the first ranked light novel here when there are masterpieces like Lord of Mysteries and Reverend Insanity on here.I don't really know how to explain what reading this novel feels like, you really need to experience it to understand.
On a pure writing quality, I can say this easily matches translated novels and even exceeds some of them. The world building is good, and the story arcs are innovative (for a xianxia). The power itself is also unique enough that I haven't seen it before. Now the biggest problem by far that I have noticed is the pacing. We're at 400+ chapters but still technically on the first arc (1.5 maybe?). The chapters itself, around the 100 mark became crazy short. Like you could fit 2/3 of these into a normal chapter. So these 400 are the equivalent of perhaps 150 normal chapters length wise. The actual plot is probably around 100? Combined with the general slow pacing its incredibly frustrating to read, and if it weren't for the general quality, I would have dropped this a while ago. Honestly would prefer author combines chapters and reduces cliffs. Defintely a book you would need to stockpile. That being said, this is still head and shoulders above most of the other originals, especially the drivel that are high ranked but chock full of plotholes and juvenile characters (the characterisation, not the actual age). The MC is naive but a quick learner (understandable considering his peasant background), isn't forced into idiotic actions. The general annoying xianxia cliches are minimized and characters other than the MC have more than 2 dimensions. Overall a definitly good read compared to the others on this site, but not amazing with serious pacing/length issues. So on this site, this is worth 5 stars, but on novelupdates and outside, probably 4. Recommend stockpiling between reads.
Please update
I love this author. She updates regularly and the details bring the story to life. My only complaint is no transition between storylines. Most authors use a dash or something to make readers aware of character/story changes. It causes slight confusion at times, but not enough to ruin the story.
The is good , when will be the next chapter ???
i love the story amazing
more chapters please
