This opening scene is CINEMATIC. I'm not even being dramatic. The author describes that heavy wooden door closing 'like a monstrous beast snapping its jaws shut' and I literally got chills. It's such a simple metaphor but it sets the entire tone—these girls walked in like peaches and they're leaving like paper. The ambergris incense masking the faint trace of blood? That detail is everything. It tells you so much about this prince's residence without explaining anything directly. And the wheelchair sound! 'A creaking sound of a wheelchair came from behind the screen. In the vast, empty hall, it was particularly jarring.' Just that one sentence and you feel the emptiness. You feel the dread. The room is so big and so quiet that every noise becomes a threat. I could see this as a TV scene—slow push in, the creaking wheel, the screen, the cold voice saying 'Look up.' Then there's the kitchen scene. Completely different energy. Empty kitchen, no servants, just Yao Chengcheng alone with her ingredients and her system. The contrast between the grand, terrifying main hall and this tiny, quiet kitchen is really smart worldbuilding. It shows us that Fu Yuanzheng's power is performative—he needs this big intimidating space to scare people, but in reality his household is falling apart. No chefs, no staff, just one weeping eunuch and a paralyzed prince who won't eat. The rooftop guard watching her talk to herself for fifteen minutes is another great visual. You can picture it—this tense, black-clad figure perched above, confused and suspicious, while below this girl is having a full conversation with thin air. It's funny but also kind of sad. She's alone up there too, just in a different way. I also love how the world feels lived-in. The seventh-rank official family, the concubine fate waiting for failed candidates, the Eastern Palace politics lurking in the background. None of it is over-explained, but you get the sense of a whole society pressing down on these girls.
The novel is decent but not exceptional. It revolves around a god who decides to become human to immerse himself in human experiences, encountering various female heroes who embark on adventures battling monsters. The plot includes a touch of politics and intrigue. However, my issue lies with the main character, Entropy (the god's human form), who comes across as more of an observer rather than the central figure. Initially, his desire to live like a human seems genuine, but as the story progresses, it feels like he's there mainly to support the heroines and resolve conflicts when faced with formidable foes.
It almost seems like the focus is on the development of the female characters as they become heroes, with Entropy, or his human identity Haine, serving as a supporting force or occasional comic relief. While Haine does play significant roles, his presence often feels forced, functioning more as a Deus Ex Machina to bail out the heroines when needed.
Despite this, I'm still reading because I enjoy the story and have invested time in it. I genuinely hope that Haine can evolve into a more prominent lead, rather than just a secondary character.

Yeah I assume the dropped it. Imo it was going down hill. The plot was getting better - more interesting even. But the characters and their interactions has been nose diving.
