The synopsis
The novel seems intriguing! Despite the protagonist initially facing adversity as a disabled individual, his journey involves overcoming and standing up against arrogant young masters, which could appear clichéd. However, a refreshing twist comes from the character's interactions with his beast companion, providing plenty of humorous moments that breathe life into the narrative. The addition of the MC having nine other eggs dangling in the plot promises an exciting progression. I'm eagerly anticipating further chapters. Once again, kudos to wuxiaworld for their excellent translation!
I'm unsure anymore, with so many five-star reviews filled with half-truths and exaggerations. Yes, it's a slice of life genre, and that's why I started reading, but it's essential for a story to progress beyond repeating the same routine of shopping, eating, shopping, eat cycle ad nauseam. It's not terrible, but there should be more substance than just that. A slice of life shouldn't solely revolve around material purchases and sustenance.
Then came the arc where they leave for training... Slice of life, nope. Nothing changes, but suddenly there's action! A damsel in distress, and the author inserts action scenes to introduce more female characters and create romantic interests. But what frustrates me the most are these half-hearted action sequences. They're monotonous and a chore to read. The slice of life aspect停滞不前, and while I can endure it, the poor action writing is unbearable. It feels like the author added it for variety but rushed through it without passion.
The descriptions lack any excitement; they're bland, like "I kicked the enemy, then another attacked, and I countered, knocking them out." A bit more effort could've made a difference, like "I deftly struck the man's shin to disrupt his balance, followed by a swift chop to his neck, stunning him. The attacker behind threw a punch, but I rotated my body, capitalizing on my momentum to counter." Simple improvements would've elevated the action, but alas, this book misses the mark.
Overall, I rate it 2 out of 5 stars. If not for those annoying action scenes that mar the experience, it might have been closer to 3. So, be warned: there are many lolis involved.
"Infallible Oathbreaker" left me captivated from the first page. A gripping tale of redemption and betrayal, it masterfully weaves an intricate web of characters, each with a complex moral compass. The protagonist's journey, filled with unexpected twists, kept me on the edge of my seat. The exploration of loyalty and the consequences of breaking one's vow added depth to the narrative. A compelling read that challenges the reader's perception of trust and forgiveness. Highly recommended for those who crave a thought-provoking literary adventure.
"Love and Deceit" is a captivating novel that delves into the intricate tapestry of human emotions, relationships, and the complexities of trust. Set against a backdrop of societal norms and personal desires, the story weaves a compelling narrative that explores the delicate balance between love and betrayal.
At its core, the novel is an exploration of the many shades of love - from the all-consuming passion to the subtle nuances of companionship. It highlights how love can be both a source of immense joy and a catalyst for deception, as characters grapple with their own insecurities and the consequences of their actions. The characters are multi-dimensional, reflecting the flawed nature of humanity, as they navigate through the labyrinth of their own hearts and the expectations of those around them.
Deceit, in this tale, serves as a mirror to reveal not only the dark side of human nature but also the vulnerability beneath the facades we construct. It forces readers to confront the grey areas where truth and manipulation intersect, making us question our own moral compasses.
