WooHoo!
Read a few chapters, simply Excellent! ♥️
love both Aria and Adrian. a really good read. would recommend
What will be the date of Alice as the story unfolds? I love this story. Recommended.
The stakes in this chapter are deceptively simple on the surface — a steward stole money and betrayed his master, case closed, right? But the author layers the conflict so carefully that by the time Chu Xiao is about to give the execution order, you genuinely believe someone is about to die. Jifeng has his sword drawn. The servants are terrified. Steward Li is banging his head on the bluestone, begging for mercy. The air pressure is at its lowest point. And then Shen Yu thinks one thought — just one internal monologue about a more creative punishment — and the entire trajectory of the scene shifts. What's fascinating is the dual conflict at play. On the external level, you have the political stakes: Steward Li wasn't just a thief, he was an informant for the Crown Prince, which makes this a treason case that could escalate into a broader power struggle. The Crown Prince's seal on that letter means this isn't contained to one manor — it's a declaration of war waiting to happen. But the internal conflict is what really gets me. Chu Xiao has spent three years in a manor full of snakes, and the moment he realizes he has an ally — however unlikely — you can see the tension leave his body. The conflict isn't just about eliminating a traitor anymore; it's about whether he can trust this girl who talks to a system he can half-hear. And Shen Yu's own conflict — she's a transmigrator with a gossip system, dropped into a dangerous political situation with no real power of her own. Her "weapon" is information and unconventional thinking. When she suggests the manure punishment, she's not just being creative — she's asserting agency in a world where she could easily be eliminated. The stakes feel real because everyone has something to lose. Steward Li loses his life and his pride. Chu Xiao loses his security if the Crown Prince retaliates. Shen Yu loses her newfound safety if she's seen as a threat. And the servants? They lose their fear — or gain the courage to resist.
What an interesting concept.
Awesome Creativity
I couldn't get past the grammatical errors, and the flow of the book was extremely choppy. I only managed to read a few pages because it was truly difficult to read as is.
