I really enjoyed this novel. The plot was straightforward, and I was impressed by the main character's intelligence and thoughtfulness.
Spoiler: I read the extra part, and it was very satisfying. Everyone had a happy ending, including the addition of two little sentinel twin girls and a guide. I also loved the moer story; it was truly beautiful.
I've likely read all of the author's works, though I have a particular fondness for their BL novels. This one is equally impressive. Lin Dan is a fascinating protagonist. I also appreciate that the story has minimal romance and focuses primarily on Lin Dan's journey. However, I had to deduct 2 stars due to the poor quality of the translation starting from the third arc. It's quite bad. I hope the site owner can find a better translator or at least a proofreader. It's frustrating to see such a good novel marred by the current translation.
The reason you might want to continue reading is that despite some aspects feeling unrealistic, such as the sudden development of the relationship, the growth between the main characters (MC) and love interest (ML) is significant. The MC learns maturity from ML, while ML becomes more lighthearted. However, the pacing issue seems to be a personal preference. You prefer a slower build-up, where characters have time to heal, understand each other, and evolve before their relationship deepens. This approach aligns with your taste for a more gradual romance. While the story might not cater to your specific preference, others might find it engaging with its unique dynamics. Ultimately, it depends on what type of storytelling resonates with you as a reader.
The narrative is engaging with a unique premise, as the protagonist, a skilled mecha designer, plays an active role in the story. However, the pacing is slow and turns out to be my main issue. The book becomes monotonous due to the excessive information dumping in every chapter. Initially, I found it intriguing when the author delved into the intricacies of the mecha design, but soon realized that the level of detail often strayed into made-up explanations, which felt unrealistic and difficult for readers without prior knowledge of the mecha world.
The author attempts to educate the audience about the technical aspects, but it comes across as an overwhelming load, especially when the general public's understanding is not assumed. If the author could simplify the jargon and maintain a balance between description and plot progression, I might have continued reading. Unfortunately, after reaching chapter 61, I've decided to move on from this book.
