I have to talk about the atmosphere in this chapter because the author really knows how to build a scene that you can feel in your bones. The opening image of Chu Huan huddled in the corner of the courtyard gate, clutching his face and groaning, with his confidants having long since scattered—that's instant visual storytelling. You don't need a single line of exposition to understand he's completely alone now. The symmetry of his bruised face, one side from the previous beating and the other from her slap, is almost darkly comedic. It's pitiful and ridiculous at the same time. And then there's the room itself. A servant's quarters that somehow looks more exquisite than most people's homes—calligraphy scrolls on the wall, a teapot and teacups, pomegranate trees at the door. The fact that Chu Huan had decorated his space while stealing from the estate says everything about his character. Wen Lingrao sitting in that Grandmaster's armchair with Banxia peeling tangerines and pouring tea while the entire courtyard watches is such a power move. The domestic normalcy of it—the tea, the fruit—contrasted with the devastation she's wreaking on Chu Huan's world is incredibly effective. The moment Ling Ji appears is pure cinematic. A black shadow materializing behind her with no sound, no warning. Tong Meng's trained instincts failing to detect him. The collective gasp of the servants. I could literally see this as a TV drama scene—the camera panning across frozen faces, the silence, then the bundle of gold and silver hitting the ground with a thud that echoes through the courtyard.
Am waiting for this story to end so that I can read it all at once. Am on the 4th book and I've enjoyed this whole series so much. I simply can't get enough of your stories

Why is they like 10 duplicate chapters? I really want to read this book, but I hate paying double? Also the chapter party only got like 2 pages the rest was an old chapter? Can someone help?
