There's this one moment that's been haunting me since I read it. Xu Jingchu is studying, organizing her time into slots, and she thinks: "If only I had a watch... A watch represents time — and time is literally the one thing Xu Jingchu is fighting for. She's trying to reclaim her future, to use every minute productively, to not waste a single moment like she did in her previous life. But she can't even have a watch. She's dependent on the Lin family for basic necessities, and the thought of wanting something for herself feels almost shameful. She has to shake it off. This connects to everything the story is about. The job at the paper mill isn't just about money — it's about independence. It's about being able to buy your own watch, schedule your own time, answer to no one. Zhang Qiuyun's conversation with Xu Jingchu about how she'll divide her wages reinforces this: the theme of women standing on their own feet, even in a society that still clings to feudal thinking. But there's another layer too — the buns. Qin Yajuan takes buns from the Lin household without telling anyone, and when Liu Xiaoxia praises them, she almost slips. Food as a symbol of belonging, of being cared for, of having a home. Qin Yajuan has been eating better and living better in the Lin household, and part of her theft is envy — she wants what Xu Jingchu gets naturally just by being there. The half-closed door is another image that sticks with me. Lin Tingjun watching Xu Jingchu through that crack — it's the physical manifestation of their relationship. Close enough to see, far enough to pretend he's not looking. The door is always slightly open, never fully closed, never fully open.

So you think the book is going to go one way then it throws you for a crazy loop de loop. I still have mixed feelings.
author i think the glitch is related to that chapter 84 being updated twice coz i still can see two chapter 84 and all the recent chapters but i think the people who only read chapter 84 the first one and not the second chapter 84 they cant get through to the next chapters if all this makes sense
