you'll love this book!!! and won't even be able to put it down!!!
Shame this book seemed good right from the start. Now, it's just a drag been repeating scenarios for like more than half of all the chapters.
????????
yooooooooooooooooppp
It’s a nice story. Not overly dramatic. I think it’s quite lighthearted and well written.
what a wonderful story
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful and I need to break down why. It starts SO slow and domestic—Zhao Yan wiping Le Huan's face, getting her water, finding her clothes. These tiny intimate moments build this almost romantic tension that makes you forget what genre you're reading. Then BAM. Gas station. Zombies. Pure chaos. The transition is jarring in the best way possible. One moment Le Huan is twirling in a purple dress asking if it looks good, the next she's pale and unconscious in the back seat while Zhao Yan feeds her sugar water. The author doesn't give you breathing room between the tenderness and the terror, which is exactly how trauma works in real life. And the carsick reveal? PERFECT pacing. We spend all this time thinking Le Huan has a serious heart condition, Zhao Yan is having an emotional crisis about it, Wu You is worried sick—and then it turns out she just got motion sick because Zhao Yan drives like a maniac. The relief and the comedy of that reveal is exactly what the story needed after such high tension. The chapter ends on this quiet note with Le Huan pulling Zhao Yan's hand away from her eyes saying she's not scared anymore, and he feels relieved that she's becoming less afraid. It's a small moment but it's the perfect breath before whatever comes next.
