Dark romance at its best!!!! sooo thrilling and captivating... you are in for one hell of a ride ....
The opening scene is brutal. A worn drafty wooden window, wind whistling through cracks, a rough rope digging into small wrists. You can literally feel the cold just reading those first lines. And then there's the cabinet—broken legs, chipped red paint, half a door missing. This isn't some dramatic haunted house, it's just sad and real and cold. The author doesn't overdescribe it, which somehow makes it worse. Then you cut to Mianmian soaking in a bathtub playing with bubbles, completely safe now, and the contrast is wild. One moment she's shivering in an abandoned house, the next she's in a clean winter princess dress with her hair in two little buns, looking at herself in the mirror and thanking the maid. The estate itself is described as "modest yet elegant"—which tells you everything about the Qin family's status without going on some exhausting wealth flex. But the scene that stuck with me the most was Second Aunt Qin and Qin Tongtong storming into the house. The servants blocking their path, the sneering, the arrogance. You can practically hear their heels clicking on the floor. And then Qin Tongtong's scream from the living room—pure shock and terror. It's such a vivid, almost cinematic sequence. The author really knows how to stage these moments. Every location feels distinct: the cold abandoned house, the warm estate, the tense dining room where Second Aunt Qin explodes. The world feels lived-in, not just a backdrop for drama.
