I love it!!

I appreciate how the Female Lead (FL) can reveal her vulnerable side to the Male Character (MC), despite her lack of confidence. The MC always reassures her, making her appear both cute and fragile around him, yet she becomes incredibly formidable when he's not around—it's as if she transforms into a completely different person. Most Female Leads wouldn't dare to show their weak side to the MC, but this one is unique. I enjoy this aspect because it stands out from the typical Aloof Female Lead archetype; she shows a clingy side to the MC, which is why the side characters are often dumbfounded. They see her as cruel and unyielding, but around the MC, she acts like a spoiled child.

I also like how the MC isn't the type to stubbornly deny his feelings. He quickly realizes his emotions for the FL, even if he can be a bit dense at times. He is attentive and supportive, with a smart and calm personality. He has that older sister vibe, which adds to the dynamic.

The MC and FL are willing to do everything for each other.

I love the side characters and their love stories too.

The plot is so engaging, but it's disappointing that you need to purchase the next chapters to continue reading. ?

This is a pretty good romance story set in a cultivation world with some light system elements. Typically, seeing both system and cultivation tags together in a novel would be enough to deter me from reading, but I always try to give things a fair chance. Especially when it’s a yuri story.

The story is actually quite well executed, and the cultivation aspect is well integrated without overwhelming the reader with constant, detailed explanations about the various realms and levels. While having some prior knowledge of cultivation novels can help, the author tends to ‘show’ rather than ‘tell,’ gradually revealing information over time instead of dumping a mountain of exposition. It’s still somewhat cliché, but the writer handles these tropes effectively.

The system element is almost negligible up to the point I’ve read, functioning more like a ‘Deus Ex Machina’ shop where the protagonist can acquire whatever she needs to handle any given situation. For example:

There’s already been a bit of graphic violence and body horror in chapter 31. If the later chapters are anything like chapter 31, I expect things to get quite intense. In cultivation novels, it’s common to hear about a world ruled by the strong, but often these stories resolve conflicts in a way that feels a bit too sanitized. This one, however, doesn’t shy away from depicting the harsh realities of such a world.

The romance is really sweet. I’m not sure if Song Weizhi realizes she’s being flirtatious with Song Zhixia or if she’s just naturally following her instincts. From the beginning, she’s very touchy-feely—cuddling, snuggling, rubbing noses—and it only gets more intense as the story progresses.

I spent over $40 to complete the entire series, so it was definitely worth the investment for me.

The premise revolves around the main character (MC) being reincarnated into a novel where her fate is to be ground into pieces and fed to the love interest's (LI) spirit pet. To avoid this grim destiny, the MC goes out of her way to treat the LI exceptionally well, protecting and caring for her. This inadvertently leads the LI to fall in love with the MC, though the MC remains oblivious to these feelings and her own growing affection for the LI until nearly the end.

The story is well-crafted and engaging. However, the ending took a more violent turn, which, while not unpleasant, felt somewhat abrupt. The final 5-7 chapters became quite intense, making the conclusion feel a bit rushed. Despite this, the overall experience was positive (definitely worth the $40). The translations were generally good, though there were occasional pronoun errors, but the meaning was still clear.

Ultimately, this story has several aspects to it, none of which it handles particularly well.

The xianxia setting: It borrows some of the genre’s tropes but fails to execute them effectively. There's also a pointless system that makes the main character (MC) even more overpowered. The enemies are brainlessly weak, even for a xianxia setting.

Daughters switched at birth: What initially drew me in was the premise of the two daughters not fighting but instead cooperating. However, the enemies are brainless, the face-slapping scenes are mediocre, and there’s no real scheming or strategy to speak of.

Romance and characters: Mediocre across the board. The MC largely follows the system and is as flat as a typical xianxia protagonist. The female lead (FL) is overly dependent and lacks depth. The flirting is pleasant, but the romance feels rushed. If the MC were male, the relationship dynamics would likely be seen as creepy and could be labeled as grooming.

If I had to pinpoint when I started losing faith in the story, it was when the father wanted to marry off both daughters, but the MC’s spy was watching, so we knew nothing would come of it. At that point, it became clear that nothing would pose a genuine threat, and the tension in the story became non-existent.

There are a few good scenes scattered throughout—like the secret realm arc, which was quite cool—but overall, the experience is rather bland.

This novel was quite enjoyable. More than half of it is dedicated to one main arc, and the pace picks up later on. It could have taken a different turn, but honestly, it was satisfying. It's a fast-paced read and definitely worth the time.

I just finished reading the entire story (I used the premium option to unlock all the chapters). It was a very enjoyable read, especially how the main character helps the "FML" achieve a better ending than what was originally intended, and in doing so, also changes her own story's fate, giving her another chance at life.

The first few chapters were excellent, but as the story progressed, the characters seemed to lose their depth. Initially, the narrative provided rich insights into the characters' thoughts and feelings, but it gradually shifted to a more superficial storytelling style, reminiscent of tales told in a teashop. This transition made the book less engaging, though not to the point of being unreadable. The story itself remains intriguing, but the character development faltered from the midpoint onward. , this is a book I might pick up if I had nothing else to read—it’s a pleasant enough story, but it doesn’t tug at the heartstrings.

I'm finding it tough to get into this novel. It could be because I recently read *The Witch Nichang*, which set the bar incredibly high, making it difficult for me to enjoy this one. I'm having trouble liking both the main character (MC) and the female lead (FL). The MC, in particular, seems overpowered. Additionally, it feels like the MC is acting like an old pervert or something. I'm really confused because, without any prior buildup, the MC suddenly started referring to the FL as "her little girl" (ew!). Up to that point, the MC had only been a knight in shining armor or a benefactor to the FL, who was understandably grateful. However, this sudden possessiveness feels completely out of place. I tried to push through a few more chapters, but it ultimately ruined the experience for me.

I might be judging this too early, so I won't rate it yet. I'll just put it on hold for now.

I LOVE THIS! The main character is flirty but also clueless. There's plenty of cultivation content. The female lead is cute, determined, and jealous. Chapters are released on a specific schedule, but if you don't want to wait, you can pay to access them immediately.

This is a great novel that is somewhat hindered by its pacing and underdeveloped characters. Despite being much shorter than it should have been, I still enjoyed it a lot.

One of my favorite moments in any martial arts novel is when [she pulls out a shotgun and starts taking down foes left and right in the most gangsta way].

The weakest aspect, I think, is the portrayal of the villains. Almost every antagonist, with a few exceptions, seems to have the intelligence of a ten-year-old. They are overly emotional and incapable of planning more than a few steps ahead. While this might be common in this genre, it repeatedly broke my immersion.

Additionally, the fast pacing means we don’t get to know the characters well, especially the protagonist’s bodyguard. She does undergo some development towards the end, but it’s not enough to make you truly empathize with her in a meaningful way.

I finished reading this with MTL, so here's a quick review.

Pros:
- The main character (MC) and female lead (FL) get together quite soon (around chapter 40), with no romance drama or heartbreaking unrequited love scenes, which is refreshing. This means we get to see them flirt a lot (they’re so sweet I might have diabetes just from reading, lol).
- The MC is the top! This is super rare in this type of story from my experience. Honestly, I was tempted to give this 5 stars just for this, lol.
- Coincidentally, the FL and the original male lead (ML) keep meeting. However, because the original ML is a normal, decent person with his own thoughts and beliefs, he doesn’t blindly fall in love with the FL like in the original story, avoiding unnecessary drama.
- The side couple is introduced rather late, but they are also *stupidly* cute together.

Cons:
- The characterization of the MC is quite flat at the start but picks up once she and the FL interact more.
- The villains are a bit too simple, almost cartoonishly evil. Don’t expect any complicated or complex schemes here.
- The pacing: Chapters 1-40 are a bit slow, 40-50 are pretty fun as they get to flirt a lot, and then around chapter 55, things go from 0 to 100 in seconds. Also, things get quite gory and violent toward the end.

, it’s a fun and quick read (I finished the entire thing in about 5 hours), especially if you just throw your brain away and don’t question the logic of things.

Personally, I give this 3.5 stars. However, since NovelUpdates doesn’t have half-stars, I’ll give it 4 stars because, while the story is simple, I did enjoy reading it.
