I totally agree, I was expecting something to develop between his master and him but the plot was so rushed leaving the story kinda frustrating. Plus the success rate system was overshadowed by the update lucky draw system.

Almost 900 chapters in & i don't really care to finish this

The writing is pretty good, the story is okay until you get past like 110 chapters, after that point it kinda feels like he put little thought into what was going into it only trying to make it look complex and mysterious. This personally made me disappointed in the story.
