The Rise of Dark Pokemon - Reviews

I'm sorry, going by the comments the story may be good, but the translation is so bad I could not get past the ninth paragraph of the first chapter.

Disclaimer: review up to chapter 168.

First for those impatient: Is it worth reading? Fuck yes.

Now onto the review. This as far as I can understand from the text is a MTL of a chinese pokemon fanfic. The mc is a reincarnator from Earth who got reborn back in time after dying shortly after he reached e4 level. So, in essence it's his 3rd try at life. While this is explained in early chapters the TL is pretty hard to understand. Mc also has a cheat - the AI chip like one Leylin from Warlock of the Magus World has. The fic is a "realistic pokemon world" Type, and it really gets it with all the politics, brutality of the underworld and nepotism. The MC is a villain so if you hate that you probably won't like the fic.

Now onto the pros:
The mc is a Rocket. Not the Jessie James kind, more Hunter J kind.
The MC is smart. He likes to plan ahead.
The author managed to combine and adapt the vrmmorpg item rarity system and nutrition into a believable IRL equivalent of IV/EVs from the games in aptitudes and pokeblocks.
Coherent and consistent worldbuilding. The explanation why Team Rocket mainly uses dark types, and their standard sets of mons just makes sense.
MC's team isn't the standard cliché of 5 pseudo-legendaries and a Mega like in most fics.
168 chapters in we're almost 2/3rd into 1st arc. This seems like a good 3-5k chapter behemoth.

Now onto the cons:
It's MTL. Pokemon names, attacks and character names don't translate half of the time. For pokemon species there are edits like ghost=gastly, but for characters I'm still wondering who Nazi is.
The MC is arrogant when he really has no right to.
Deus ex AI chip
The whole Rocket contribution points and **** reeks of cultivation novels.
This is most likely a 3-5 k chapter behemoth

Overall I'd rate it within top 5 "realistic pokemon world" Novels including ffn ones. I love it and recommend you to at least try reading it.

5* on everything except the translation (which sucks big time!)
Unfortunately it seems to have been left at around chapter 240 here, u can read the rest on MTL (just Google search it, you'll see comrademao.mtl link).
Has some really interesting uses of some mons (especially Tyranitar who has been given some powers of Groudon). Use of Psychic is pretty impressive too.

Ok seriously, am not that good in English but come on, How do you even understand this. it's like reading chinese and all you know is 'ni hao'.

I m  at the initial chapters but I find this novel very interesting. There is a unique story development. But the writing quality is extremely poor and difficult to read. The character design seems ok. There was good stability of update a while back now it has been more than a month. Cannot comment on world background as I have not read more chapters

Good fan_fic with potential

I liked it a lot, a shame it's not updated more
