So, another reincarnation-revenge tale (sigh). I personally enjoy such plots, but they certainly require more depth and intricate weaving compared to contemporary narratives, especially when dealing with court intrigue. Finding the perfect balance between romance and scheming is crucial for success. Unfortunately, this story doesn't strike that balance particularly well. The translation is decent but occasionally stumbles, but it's still passable if boredom sets in.

What truly irks me is the main character's lack of presence. This is the first time I've encountered a protagonist who seems overshadowed by supporting characters. Whether due to frequent perspective shifts or poor translation, when the focus shifts away from her, she virtually vanishes from the scene. In a well-written story, the protagonist remains an ever-present thread, even when not the center of attention. Here, even when she's in the background, the MC feels like a ghost when the narrative shifts to others.

The male lead also falls short, fitting the mold of a generic historical/xianxia shoujo manga protagonist. A powerful, aloof prince who finds the MC intriguing and deals with some contrived ailment. He lacks charisma and that commanding aura, which feels forced when the author tries to emphasize it, akin to a child wearing their parent's armor.

I loved the book! Just wish there was another epilogue about Lilac and Nox. I really like how Lilac and Nox characters grow up and developed!
