The Smiling, Proud Wanderer is a Wuxia novel by Jin Yong (Louis Cha). It was first serialized in Hong Kong in the newspaper Ming Pao from 20 April 1967 to 12 October 1969.Alternative Names:• Laughing in the Wind• State of Divinity• The Peerless Gallant Errant• The Proud and Gallant Wanderer• Xiao Ao Jiang Hu• 笑傲江湖Translators:• Lanny Lin (Chapter 1 - 21)• HHaung (Chapter 21)• Pokit (Chapter 21 onwards)• Bliss (Chapter 30 and 31)Editor:• HHaung (Chapter 21 onwards)The reason I'm putting up this novel is so I can read it for personal use. I watched the State of Divinity (1996 TV series) and loved that show. I knew there was a Novel of it but never spent the time to look for it until now. Was reading it online but the chapters very LONG and I keep loosing track of where I left off so I came here. Reading it off Webnovel is so much easier especially since it keeps track of where you left off. Unfortunately Webnovel has a 20k word / 100k character limit for each chapter so I had no choice but to chop up the chapters into parts. For those who also want to read this feel free. I am not taking someone else's work and passing them off as my own, full credit is given to the original writer, translators and editor as listed in the descriptions, plus the content of this novel is free online in multiple sources for everyone to read. So putting this up on Webnovel is just for my own convenience sake and anyone else who wishes to read this

I had hoped for more, I like city/kingdom building novels in general and it is my favorite genre to read. I have read the first 10 chapters, it is kind of... bland... it just doesnt catch my attention. I might force myself to read the free chapters, and I rly hope it gets better. My biggest disappointment is the fact that his trip to the real world was not described. He just goes and comes back with a bunch of stuff... no talk about how he acquired them or anything. I mean let's be real... how will you get shotguns in China? it's not like he whipped them out of his arse. Same with swords and bows & arrows. No talk about how he acquired anything really... I would have really liked to see his trip as he meets the people that he does and sells them some stuff. (trip as in before he cured the kid and got scammed)When he came to the city.He didn't personally do much... or it was not described. He would just hand the papers to someone else to handle... I get that it is realistic since I would delegate work like that too if I was in the same situation... but at least tell us the path of him researching how to make a proper water wheel or something. Like a paragraph or two was enough. The chapters are short and there are some inconsistencies when it comes to either translation or maybe the author just doesnt know what he is writing. I will probably read the free chapters and update my review based on that... but for now I have read 25% of what I can read and I'm not impressed. Especially if I have to pay or use free-passes to read the rest.
