Do not be confused by this 3*
I would have no problem recommending someone this book. Is this a "must read"? no I wouldnt say so. There are some key moments that the author kinda seems to skip over which leads to a kind of confusing plot and character development. However I wouldnt be surprised at all if this author was writing 4 or 5 star material by his next novel or even this one. He/she gets a lot of things right in my opinion.
Heres more specific feedback
1. I wish I could see the character changing, instead of the end results. I kind of missed the specific moments where he evolves emotionally, then I get told later that it did.
2. The perspectives of the different characters do a lot here. Its completely underutilized in other novels and I cannot express how much I appreciate it. It helps me understand how the character is influencing the world around him. Thanm you author.
3. emotional extremes. kick him while hes down, hype him when hes supposed to win. While I think its been going fine so far, imo it could be taken a step farther. That one could totally be personal preference though.
