Ji An, a woman from the twenty-first century, transmigrates into the body of a thirteen-year-old girl in the fictional Dajing Dynasty, inhabiting the world of the novel The Splendid Rebirth of Xinran. In this new life, she is the youngest daughter of the Ji family, a respectable farming and studying household in Zaoyu Village. Unlike the original character in the novel, who was neglected and ultimately died in a miserable marriage, Ji An possesses the memories of her previous life as the daughter of a university professor and a doctor. She is aware of the tragic fate awaiting her in the original story, where she is forced to marry Tan Dong, the son of a corrupt official, and dies of melancholy after being mistreated by his legitimate daughter.
