I actually enjoyed other cultivation novels by Yi Luo Cheng Huo, but I don’t really like this one that much for one simple reason: the protagonist's cheat is way too overpowered. The main character’s cheat functions like a gacha system, allowing him to obtain any materials needed for cultivation. This feature essentially eliminates one of the most enjoyable aspects of this genre—watching the main characters search for and acquire the resources necessary to level up. Initially, this wasn't too bad, but it took a turn for the worse when the male lead got his own cheat, and then somehow their cheats merged into one massive, unrealistic power that completely erased any sense of adventure in the novel.

On the other hand, I do like the relationship between the two main leads, and as with other novels by Yi Luo Cheng Huo, some of the side characters are quite interesting. However, I just can't get past that overpowered cheat, so unfortunately, I had to drop it. 2.5/5 stars.

I appreciate the early relationship dynamics the most because when they first get together, the Male Lead (ML) has less agency. The ML remains sweet and cool, yet he tends to follow the Female Lead (MC)'s lead in their interactions. The MC is thoughtful and considerate in everything she does for the ML, but their relationship is quite codependent.

This story leans more towards a slice of life rather than a traditional romance. There are no significant obstacles, emotional conflicts, or misunderstandings. It’s calming to read about their happiness together. The narrative is very character-focused and emphasizes world-building. The side characters don’t have a major impact on the story, and the MC and ML don’t form deep connections with many other characters, aside from their nephew (the original male character, ori!MC) and their master. However, the side characters aren’t entirely two-dimensional; they fall somewhere in between, perhaps 2.5D or even 2.75D. They have their own lives and goals, mostly centered around becoming stronger, and each could be the main character of their own story.

Artistically, I would describe the story as an abstract painting. It conveys an emotion more than a specific scene or portrait. The author is deliberate in their use of color and shape, but there’s no overarching plot or message. Some parts might seem slow or uneventful, but they all contribute to the overall feeling and atmosphere of the story.

Story: 2.5 Stars. MC x ML: 4.5 Stars. Nephew x Senior Brother: 4.5 Stars.

The narrative starts to drag, with excessive descriptions and not enough action compared to the author's other novel, "The Transmigrator's Cultivation." The side characters are often forgettable, and the frequent introduction of new transmigrators can be overwhelming. The author spends a lot of time detailing the situations of these side characters but then quickly moves on, leaving many threads unresolved. Even when some of these characters are intriguing, they tend to disappear after a few chapters.

The most engaging part of the story is undoubtedly the beginning, where the main characters (MC and ML) are thrust into a flash marriage and must share a bed to cure ML. However, their relationship subsequently regresses to a platonic "friendship," which can be frustrating for readers invested in their romantic development.

There are occasional interesting subplots, such as the nephew's storyline, which stands out as one of the more compelling aspects of the book. The nephew is incredibly endearing, especially considering his young age of 4 or 5 years old. It would be great to see more direct and close interactions between the MC, ML, and the nephew. Currently, it feels like MC and ML are running a foster care arrangement, providing for the nephew but maintaining a distance to avoid emotional attachment. This approach seems out of place, given the nephew's tender age.

MC x ML: 4.5 Stars

The chemistry between MC and ML is one of the highlights of the novel. Their personalities are charming and well-developed, making their interactions a joy to read. The fur babies (5 stars) are also a delightful addition, although they make limited appearances. More scenes with the fur babies would be welcome.

Nephew x Senior Brother: 4.5 Stars

The scenes involving the nephew and his senior brother are particularly engaging. These interactions feel like they drive the story forward and add depth to the characters. The dynamic between them suggests a deeper connection, possibly hinting at a romantic relationship, which adds an intriguing layer to the narrative.

Chapter 69: Finally, the MC and ML move beyond the "just friends" phase! Prior to this, their relationship was filled with intimate moments—hugging, sharing a bed, snuggling, holding hands, and even physical reactions—but MC attributed these to natural responses rather than affection. The inheritance and the system seemed to be pushing them toward a more committed relationship, and their behavior mirrored that of a long-established couple. While ML appears to have recognized his feelings, MC remains oblivious, content with the status quo.

Despite the pacing issues and repetitive descriptions, the novel continues to hold my interest due to the MC and ML's interactions, the adorable fur babies, and the nephew's storyline. At chapter 500, the main draw remains the dynamics between these characters. If you're looking for a sweet, romantic story with a focus on character relationships, this might still be worth a read, even if the plot isn't as strong.

This story shares a similar backdrop with "The Transmigrator’s Family Has a Son-in-Law," but there are distinct differences:

- While "The Transmigrator’s Family Has a Son-in-Law" might feel like many other BL cultivation novels, "MMIB" introduces a modified cultivation foundation. The main lead (ML) doesn’t possess many advantages in this new life. Originally, he was a feared villain, but in his current incarnation, he no longer holds that status.

- The narrative is quite humorous, and the characters are appealing. Besides the main character (MC), there are numerous other transmigrators who add depth to the story.

- However, I find the MC's system hard to accept; it feels vague and overly powerful. There’s no sense of effort or struggle in acquiring the knowledge related to medicine preparation; everything just materializes out of nowhere.

At the very least, the friendship between the MC and ML is noteworthy. They only slept together once at the beginning to save ML, after which they returned to being good friends.

why is it that the author stopped updating the new chapters. it's so annoying.
