At the bottom of the mercenary group, even further down, Kanata, a battlefield scavenger, lived by scavenging valuable items on the battlefield to survive as a child.
Kanata’s only joy was occasionally picking up leftover magic stones called magical dregs. They were clusters of magic, but being leftovers, they were useless for anything and would fade away over time. Despite their lack of practical value, Kanata enjoyed gazing at them.
In Kanata’s living environment, there wasn’t much else that was beautiful.
However, from those remnants, Kanata gradually began to discover fragments and traces of magic.
Persistently. One by one. And thus, he finally grasped an opportunity.
Through the accumulation that had been called futile and meaningless, he rose up.
