Xie Shi, an undercover police officer, infiltrates the powerful Wen crime family by assuming the identity of Bian Ci, the son of Wen Qingshan’s deceased lover. His mission is to gather evidence to dismantle the organization from within. To maintain his cover, he pledges loyalty to Wen Yingjue, the cold and ruthless mafia boss who is actually Bian Ci, Xie Shi’s childhood friend and fellow undercover agent. The two operate under the same roof, navigating a dangerous web of deceit where they must hide their true identities from each other and from Wen Qingshan, who suspects everyone around him.

The tension escalates when Wen Ye, Wen Yingjue’s illegitimate half-brother, discovers Xie Shi’s secret communications with rivals. Forced into a desperate alliance to survive, Xie Shi pretends to betray Wen Yingjue, leading to a brutal confrontation where Wen Yingjue temporarily loses his memory. Seizing the opportunity, Xie Shi manipulates the situation, convincing the amnesiac Wen Yingjue that they are lovers. This deception allows Xie Shi to gain deeper access to the family’s inner circle while Wen Yingjue, unaware of Xie Shi’s true identity, becomes increasingly possessive and emotionally entangled with him.

As the police close in, Wen Qingshan captures Xie Shi and reveals that his handler, Jin Mo, is a corrupt informant working for the crime lord. Held at gunpoint with a bomb strapped to his chest, Xie Shi is forced to act as bait to lure out the real informant who possesses the key evidence against Wen Qingshan. The climax unfolds at an abandoned warehouse where Wen Qingshan believes he has finally trapped his enemy. However, the rendezvous is a counter-trap orchestrated by the police. Wen Yingjue reveals his true allegiance, subduing Wen Qingshan and exposing the corruption within the ranks.

The resolution reveals that the informant was not a single person but two: the deceased Jiang Ying and Bian Ci himself. The entire infiltration was a long-term plan devised by Jiang Ying before his death, with Bian Ci assuming the role of Wen Yingjue to get close to the boss. Xie Shi, using Bian Ci’s face, operated as the external operative. After the arrest of Wen Qingshan and the collapse of the crime family, both agents undergo psychological counseling to cope with the trauma of their double lives and the emotional manipulation they endured.

In the aftermath, Bian Ci struggles with guilt over the pain he caused Xie Shi while maintaining his cover, particularly the physical and emotional abuse he inflicted to sustain the illusion of a twisted master-servant relationship. Xie Shi confronts Bian Ci on a rooftop, echoing their past as teenagers. He forgives Bian Ci, revealing that his feelings have always extended beyond friendship. The story concludes with the two rekindling their bond, moving from the shadows of deception into a genuine relationship, finally free from the criminal underworld that once bound them.
