Shi Chu is a university student who secretly participates in a mysterious interdimensional game. He is one of only six survivors out of an original hundred players, having earned the title White-robed Warrior through eight years of service in a martial arts world. In that realm, he successfully eliminated the evil factions and completed his main quest, earning chivalry points that he uses to purchase martial arts techniques and supplies. Upon returning to his modern world, he discovers the game interface has updated, revealing a team mechanism and a list of remaining players with wildly different genre settings, ranging from wuxia to sci-fi. Despite the danger, Shi Chu values his peaceful campus life and his close relationship with his six dorm mates. He harbors unresolved feelings for his ex-boyfriend, Zhang Zongrui, a handsome and righteous classmate he sees occasionally but has not spoken to since their painful breakup years ago.

Shi Chu’s next mission transports him to a parallel modern world alongside Zhang Zongrui, who holds the title White-robed Priest. The two are forced to team up despite their awkward history. They arrive in a bustling shopping mall where a news broadcast announces an impending meteor shower. However, the event turns out to be an alien invasion, with monstrous creatures raining from the sky. The system issues a mission to save the world within three years. Shi Chu and Zhang Zongrui summon their respective companions; Shi Chu calls forth four fighters from his martial arts background, including twin sisters and a skilled swordswoman, while Zhang Zongrui summons a party of Western fantasy characters, including a mage and a battle angel.

The duo must navigate the chaos of the invasion while protecting ordinary civilians. They rescue a group of survivors, including a researcher named Lin Xiyuan and a forensic pathologist named Zhang Huihui. The aliens are nearly invulnerable, with skin harder than steel, but Shi Chu discovers their weakness lies in their mouthparts. The group fights their way through the mall, escaping into the underground parking garage and eventually driving toward the suburbs. Along the way, they encounter more monsters and face the harsh reality of the apocalypse.

As they travel, the tension between Shi Chu and Zhang Zongrui resurfaces. They recall their past as childhood friends who fell in love during high school but broke up due to the stress and trauma of their early game missions. Their relationship was marked by intense arguments and mutual hurt before they severed all contact. Now, thrust together in a life-or-death situation, they must rely on each other’s strengths. Shi Chu’s combat prowess and Zhang Zongrui’s healing abilities complement one another, forcing them to communicate and coordinate despite their emotional distance.

The story follows their journey as they attempt to reach the 320 Research Institute, where Lin Xiyuan believes they can find a way to combat the alien threat. The group faces numerous challenges, including resource scarcity, monster attacks, and the psychological toll of the apocalypse. Shi Chu’s internal struggle between his desire for a normal life and his duty as a game player drives the narrative forward. The alliance between the two former lovers becomes a central focus, as they navigate both the external threat of the alien invasion and the internal conflicts of their shared past.
