Zhang Zongrui is Shi Chu's ex-boyfriend with whom he shared a four-year relationship from eighth grade to eleventh grade before breaking up in twelfth grade. Ironically they ended up attending the same university. He is described as a tall handsome man with clear bright features that exude an air of righteousness. He has sharp eyebrows and starry eyes giving him the image of a heroic swordsman. Unlike Shi Chu's delicate appearance Zhang Zongrui projects a more commanding presence. At the time of the story he is wearing athletic wear and carrying a basketball likely on his way to the court. For him only a little over two years have passed since their breakup while for Shi Chu it felt like decades. Shi Chu has long since moved on from the relationship and his heart remains calm when observing Zhang Zongrui.
