First three chapters named prelude show MC being a spiteful youth, seem to have upset other readers.  However main story starts after this and he’s now calmer but still devious.
Background settings of the story appears to be some derivative of the Heroes of Might and Magic universe.

The novels protagonist isn't likable from the start which isn't a good sighn even if the story is good later on a unlikable mc that leaves a bad taste in your mouth is quite a red flag for me sorry qidian has picked quite uninteresting novels atleast for me if you guys like it great for you just not my cup of tea

If you like build up, this story is for you. That’s this story as well as its MC’s strength. Dafei is not some sort of PVP god, he uses everything at his disposal: weapons, NPCs, terrains, other players and logic. He dies sometimes, the spies in his rank are not magically busted, you don’t feel the plot armor. When he wins, it feels like he owned his victory. The author is very patriotic towards China and he makes his country looking stronger by making other countries stong rather than weak, game of alliances (and some favoritism, but it his country and his story, eh).

For what might turn you down, the MC is harem seeking. But he’s honest about it and act like any guy would: he’d rather have girls than guys in his army. Surprisingly enough the girls actually have personality even when they’re NPCs. They’re not his, he can loose them. Sometimes they exploit him.

The MC also like to talk to you about him, but without breaking the fourth wall, he’s like: Your bro (that’s him) is...
If you like the MC in The Demon’s cage, you will like him.

Damn, why do Web novel always choose "trash novel"

I guarantee Webnovel will put this trash novel in the voting section for release. Whichever novel with the most soulstones used will be selected as editor choice? Yeah fucking right. They do a process where they release 8 books and then take away the novels that are highly rated since they don't want to put too many high quality books up at once. They want to maximize profit by milking money of trash novels and a few good ones. Only when 1 highly rated  novel is done, will they put another out.

First 3 chapter are not the the actual  plot but from chapter 4 it's starting point and it's great

Extremely unlikable MC. Not recommended at all unless you want to be brain dead. A trash among trash novels. After reading a few pages your IQ will drop by a few levels.

This is just, I don't know what to say, just reading the first 3 chapters, you can see how bad the MC is, in terms of personality and character, like this man is just a terrible person overall, sexist, egoistic, that only likes to think about himself. There are probably people that like this kinda of character, but I don't. So that's why the score I'm giving is like this.

Okay...let me be blunt.  1.  The first three chapters are important.  2.  The first three chapters are very important.  and 3. The first three chapters, while important, aren't that significant to the beginning of the story...sorta...

This is a story about a guy who decides to turn professional gamer.  Unfortunately, (refer to chaps 1-3) he did some very childish things when he was a kid fresh out of school.  Now that he's older, he's trying to ignore that part of his life with the latest, hottest VRMMO.  Then karma comes and bites him in the...y'know...  ^_^

You might not like the MC.  His personality is abrasive and brash and hasn't really mellowed that much from that prologue, but he's a very realistic character and very entertaining.  You might feel snarly about how he treats his sister's BF, but if she was my sister, I'd act the same way.

Basically, this is an entertaining VRMMO story about a sorta reformed troll trying to trod the straight and narrow (and failing rather humorously).  Totally hope it gets a full pickup because I did laugh quite a bit while reading of his misadventures (Katrina...lol...).

This novel has a rating of 9.2 with 1000's of votes that is a damn high rating. This kind of rating is given to novels like "Lord of Mysteries". But it's from 2013 so you can't trust it. Most of the novel of that time has quite high ratings while not being that good.
