Actual reading status- 941 Honestly if I didn’t have such a serious problem with dropping stories I would have dropped this several hundred chapters ago when Han Sen threatened to rape and murder a lone young girl just to bluff her. He has a sister and was raised by his mother. No way in hell would any sane individual do that. It disgusted me and everything after that just pissed me off even more. He is actually a terrible person unless he owes you something or you can do something for him. He also treats alot of women like crap and they usually end up fawning over him in the end. He also kissed another girl while dating Yannran and then he did it again after they got engaged. There is just so much I don’t like about this story, and I hate the fact I can never drop stories when they disappoint me. My mind won’t let me. Anyway this is my two cents on what I don’t like about this story and even a few things I did like.The character is overly lucky and it’s infuriating. Everywhere he goes he gets benefits out the ass. I mean come on, walking across an injured spirit and the weakened sacred blood creature she failed to kill, finding a moving underground shelter he doesn’t have to defend, getting a 4th gene lock ordinary pet from a spirit who couldn’t tame it, getting a 6th gene lock mutant pet and then happening across the sacred blood geno seed tree and ends up with a super beast pet. And that’s only since arriving at the third gods sanctuary. This **** is just ridiculous. Now for something I like, so this isn’t just a rant. Whenever the main character faces an old soldier, General or just Someone above him that holds no grudge and doesn’t look down on him, they usually think he’s an old General himself, it’s always enjoyable. The mech fights are unique and well written and the games they play to improve their strength and skills are all incredibly interesting. Hand of god and black and white boxing may be dominated by the MC, but it was enjoyable watching him reach that level. Since his mother groomed him carefully throughout his younger years everything he can do comes from her training and his experiences. Without the basics she drilled into him through little games, so he wouldn’t know she was honing his mind, reflexes and awareness, he would have died many times over. The experience he’s gained and strength he has is very fun to read, but he is WAY too powerful compared to those around him. He basically makes a mockery of the difficulty humans have faced in gods sanctuary by constantly getting lucky and ending up with much greater strength than everyone else right upon arrival. He also has more than a dozen overt main character privileges. Meaning more than 12 specific plot devices that give Han Sen benefits that NO OTHER HUMAN HAS. These allow the main character to grow faster or stronger than those around him With less difficultly. He has unlocked his first gene lock in three different ways with three different Qi gong, not that it’s ever explained how he can do this, and ends up with basically the best possible circumstances wherever he goes. He either runs into a random person he knows that can help him, a plant/object that can help him develop and boost his strength, or a super creature that’s recently, or has just, given birth.I loved this story at the start and the world is thoroughly interesting, Hyper geno arts, War-frames and the unique nature of gods sanctuary are the only reasons I can stay sane reading this, but Ive grown to genuinely hate the main character. The writer obviously wanted to get him into the third gods sanctuary as fast as possible and therefore ignored at least 3 main plot threads and several smaller ones to do it. I specifically remember Han Sen saying he would kill the lobster that killed his pet, the golden rock worm king. Only for him to forget it. This isn’t unique to this event either. The ghost nights humanoid pet possession beast soul was ignored after its second mention and the beast gear that it dropped was never brought up again. The teleporting raven is never referenced nor is the young Pegasus he saved. The black skeleton that wielded a sword was also ignored as well as the z-steel short sword Han Sen wanted made. The main character joins Queen’s hunting team only to reject them. Then he goes on to make an inferior team of his own and then immediately afterwards forgets the concept of a team. The shura’s blade storm technique and the masks they wear were ignored and forgotten long before Han Sen’s second encounter with these creatures 900+ chapters In. The main character says he wants to build a tunnel through the mountain to connect the ice fields with the other shelter across from it. Then he finds out the mountain is hollow and already has a series of tunnels within it, but never even thinks about them after leaving. I mean seriously, don’t put stuff like that in your story if your not going to do anything with it!The main character gave his mom a bunch of super beast souls when she really didn’t need them, what with her not caring about super geno points and her being protected by 3 super beasts. She’s also in close proximity to the luck deer. All the while humans that are trying to kill super creatures really needed those beast souls are dying my the dozen. There’s also the fact that his floating and underwater royal shelters were basically useless to any but him and he never does much with them. Instead of ruling Second gods Sanctuary, constantly overcoming royal and king sport shelters and using the land, seas and sky to show his strength and use everything the writer built up, he just leaves and it’s all done with. We have no idea what’s happening with the goddess shelter or the ice fields. The devil-blood king’s shelter was also forgone. And he completely ignored Ji Yannran’s warning to wait till his strength peaks before joining the third gods sanctuary. Instead he just maxes out all his geno points and doesn’t bother trying to get any stronger or any more skilled. Like he was already the best he could ever hope to be in every possible aspect.And while he learnt at least 2 dozen different abilities from second generation super creatures in the second gods sanctuary, he only learned 2 hyper geno arts to make use of them. And only 1 was a fusion technique. He also didn’t even try to heal the man who was crippled by the shura even though he could have. It may not have fixed him to 100%, but he could have at least tried. The Shura challenged Dollar, meaning the MC, but this dude who stepped up nearly died, and the MC doesn’t even think twice about the guy. He ALWAYS comes across the nine life symbol all the time WHEREVER HE IS, even though he is always in the remotest, most random areas that he only ever arrived in through SHEER coincidence. And these are only some things off the top of my head after a few minutes of thinking. If I wanted I could go on for a lot longer, but I won’t. The longer I read this the more annoying all these minor things become. Because they pile up and pile up until eventually they feel overwhelming. The translation doesn’t help too much either. The MC’s pseudonym ‘Dollar’ became ‘coin’ at one point. Sometimes they use ‘he’ when it should be ‘she’, or vice versa, and they even changed the gene system. It used to be ‘Ordinary- Primitive- Mutant‘, etc. Now it’s ‘Basic- Ordinary- Mutant’, etc. What’s the point of that. It makes it confusing and Basic and ordinary mean the same thing. While primitive makes one think of something ancient and primal. Sorry, I just need to rant sometimes and typing it all out helps. That being said I do enjoy this novel. It’s not trash, but it’s not gold either. It’s an enjoyable read that keeps one curious about the story at hand, but the MC’s Overt plot privileges can be difficult to get over after awhile. The start And first few hundred chapters are by far the best, but there are many enjoyable moments throughout this series.If you’re read this far thanks and sorry for the lengthy review.
