Wen Tang is a top-ranking student from Lincheng No. 1 Secondary School who transfers to Shenzhen No. 5 Secondary School at the start of the academic year. She is a quiet, aloof girl who hides a painful past and a severe health condition. Her mother has passed away, and she lives with her strict but caring grandfather, a retired military man. Wen Tang suffers from gastroenteritis and an eating disorder triggered by emotional trauma, forcing her to hide her inability to eat from her family and peers. She maintains a cold exterior to keep people at a distance, believing that her past mistakes and family burdens make her unworthy of connection.

Upon arriving at her new class, Wen Tang is assigned to sit next to Shen Yanchuan, the school's most popular and rebellious male student. Known as the school bully, Shen Yanchuan is handsome, charismatic, and academically gifted in science but neglectful of liberal arts. Despite his unruly reputation, he is protective and brave, having previously defended weaker students from bullies.
