It was Mind Du's quest boss he probably had an item that allowed him to ignore magic immunity and needed to get it for the quest or it changed because it got the lucky modifier, after all, after it got the modifier it probably got harder.

This book is amazing.  I know I will read it multiple times.  Such a guilty pleasure
