Shen Youran, a modern woman, transmigrates into the body of Shen Zhaodi, the tragic female lead of a novel she recently read. The original owner was a victim of a deeply flawed narrative, oppressed by her patriarchal family and abused by her husband, Lu Yifan. Shen Zhaodi was kidnapped and assaulted by bandits, resulting in an unplanned pregnancy. Despite being innocent, she was blamed by Lu Yifan, who harbored affection for another woman, Zhou Xiaohui. The original owner died after being pushed into a lake by Lu Yifan’s nephew, Liu Wenjie, a child who manipulated perceptions to frame Shen Zhaodi as a scheming woman. Upon awakening, Shen Youran immediately confronts her exploitative mother, Liu Chunhua, and brother, Shen Tianci, who had forced the original owner to send them money throughout her marriage. Rejecting their demands, she asserts her independence and refuses to be a financial source for their greed.
Shen Youran’s primary goal is to secure a better future for her young son, Jun Jun, who in the original story was neglected and psychologically damaged, eventually becoming a villain due to the injustices he suffered. She discovers that the ring Lu Yifan wears contains a spatial dimension, a cheat tool that the original male and female leads used to accumulate wealth. Determined not to let Lu Yifan and Zhou Xiaohui succeed, Shen Youran demands the ring back as part of her divorce settlement. Lu Yifan, eager to marry Zhou Xiaohui, agrees and discards the ring without hesitation. Shen Youran activates the space with her blood, gaining access to a self-sustaining environment with farmland and a house, which she uses to provide for Jun Jun and hide from her hostile family.
With the ring in her possession, Shen Youran executes a plan to reclaim what was stolen from her. She secretly transfers all the food, ingredients, and hidden savings from her parents' home into her spatial dimension, leaving them with nothing. When Liu Chunhua discovers the theft, she panics and involves the police, but the lack of evidence makes the case unsolvable. Shen Youran uses the incident to further destabilize her family, knowing they will suffer from their own greed and incompetence. She also publicly exposes Liu Wenjie’s role in her near-drowning, forcing the Liu family to pay compensation, which she then uses to her advantage. Throughout these events, Shen Youran remains cold and calculating, ensuring that Jun Jun is protected from the emotional abuse that defined his childhood in the novel. She resolves to build a new life, leveraging her spatial abilities to achieve economic independence while dismantling the systems that oppressed the original Shen Zhaodi.
