Overall, a novel with good ideas but poor character design. After being framed and sentenced to death for murder, the MC- a violent gang boss- traveled to a parallel world to become part of a police investigation team. He is randomly tied to a system, but when catching criminals, he relies on forced plot development (instead of using brains). I do not like the MC's personality (brash and rude like a gangster); in fact, the original police officer (whose body MC transmigrated into) seemed to have a much better personality compared  to MC. I was looking forward to this since we don't have good Chinese detective webnovels (most are Japanese like "Shinrei Tantei Yakumo"), but I was disappointed (my rating was already +1 for having the game system, but character development turned out to be too poor).

I have read up a few chapters of it in qidian...gotta say I'm not impressed....He doesn't even try to use his brain to solve the cases, it just gets solved almost by force....I am not able to empathise with any of the characters in it and the world building is shallow....qidian should try to translate better webnovels out there instead of these mediocre pieces in my opinion....

To be honest, I got sick of seeing this on the list and gave it pity votes the last two weeks. Glad it's finally gone and you guys who are interested in this novel can see if it's interesting or not. Enjoy!

This story seems like the best one I've seen in quite awhile. Reincarnation, systems, and detectives. What could possibly be added to make a story like this better? Flawless.

Starting with Chapter 350 or so, the quality of the translation gotten worse. It used to be great, but now is only so-so. Did Nyoi-Bo Studio moved their good translators off this novel because it's not doing too well in the power rankings? It's a shame, because I like mystery novels and Qidian doesn't have too many of them.

I downloaded this app when I saw the prologue of Crazy Detective in the app ad. It’s the best I have read on Webnovel until now. The MC Zhao Yu a gangster transmigrated mysteriously to find that he is now an investigator and we slowly see the transformation; how he is different from the old Zhao Yu and how gradually principles are instilled in him becoming an intriguing mix of what he was and what he should be. With a mysterious system guiding him through this transformation I think Zhao Yu will become one of the most interesting characters among all the other characters I read about.
