“The Abyss of the Pole: Call of Cthulhu” - Reviews

I was expecting more character development before the protagonist’s easy win.   The main character had no police/law enforcement/ forensic training before transmigrating with a detective system golden finger.  In the first case, the golden finger replayed the whole murder before the protagonist put in any effort.  Then, his boss agreed to arrest the suspect with out a warrant or any direct evidence in hand (Cultureal Differences?).  I would have preferred if the system only told him that a murder occurred and then forced the protagonist to solve the rest himself.  Bottom line the protagonist’s golden finger made him look cool to other characters but did not cause any personal growth.

Been a fan of DD since I found 1 and must say I am loving how the author has established a continuation of the series while making every Douluo Dalu book unique in it's own right.Ultimate Fighting is currently competing with Legend of the Dragon King as my favourite Douluo Dalu novel.Like DD3 this novel has expended more into sci-fi with mecha and spaceships as well as colonisation of other planets while still maintaining the cultivation setting of a Wuxia novel. I found it to be quite interesting and it feels realistic and what you would expect to happen when a cultivation world discovers space travel on there own.One of the selling points of the novel though has to be the MC, Lan Xuanyu starts off as innocent cinnamon roll and is just so adorable that you just want to hug him if you could. However he later develops into a cunning fox while still maintaining his innocence. His combat style centres on control with commanding and tricks being his speciality while the MC becoming the commander of the team is common in DD novels I feel Xuanyu takes it a step further his commandeering style reminds me a lot of a commanding officer in the armies and it looks like he will end up commanding whole armies in the future. Xuanyu is the most OP of any MC for the Douluo Dalu novels so far however it develops in a way that still makes it interesting and avoids Mary Sue despite his powers and potential there are many problems and difficulties he has to face.One of the best things about this novel though is the reappearance of character from the previous novels with their own subplots and focus to the story. While the author is well known for having characters show up from his other or previous books none do it as well as DD4 where the characters are actually an intricate part of the story instead of mostly just a brief appearance or reference like other DD novels.  Seeing these characters that I already fell in love in reappear is so nice and they truly add to the plot without taking away from it and let the new MC take centre stage, but still maintain relevance to the plot.If you are a fan of the Douluo Dalu series this is the book for you, while some fans of cultivation novels may be warded off by the new elements that are unusual for this genre still find this a must try as it is quite enjoyable for me at least.

Actually This novel is not a bad or outright ****y , it's just that this novel doesn't have anything new . Some Godking die by betrayal then swears to kill , reincarnated , underestimated , stuck up arrogant young master, face slapping and repeat . Old things in new package , that's your cultivation novel in nutshell.?? Thank me later.

The story is enjoyable, but it lacks attention to detail. I'm at chapter 90 and still don't know the main character's appearance or height, which makes it difficult to visualize the scenes in my mind as a reader.Additionally, the pacing of the day is poorly organized, as there's no time allocated for sleep, making it seem secondary and unimportant.The power balance remains unclear. It would have been better to clarify the initial stages of the protagonist's journey rather than leaving it ambiguous for the readers, especially since it's hard to accept that a child between the ages of one and three can easily kill hundreds.As for the talents, they seem exaggerated. It appears that the author is leaning toward a more cosmic scale.

Well, I honestly hate the ML... and the fact that the FL needs the affection of the ML? So what if the FL is a replacement? It's not her call to become the replacement... she is just the unlucky member and a chess piece of the so-called noble family... what a disappointment...:(
