A rare type of charcoal with grayish-white surface and wood grain. It is finer, denser, harder to squeeze, and produces a crisper sound when tapped. Its pores are finer and more uniform than black charcoal. It burns at a higher temperature than black charcoal and can soften metal ore, enabling smelting. Made from elm wood in unknown specific conditions.
