Three thugs hired by Sun lay in wait at the factory corner to ambush Gu Shaonan. When Gu Shaonan did not appear, they doubled back and instead surrounded and harassed Lin Sui near Bamboo Grove Village. Zhou Chiye intervened and kicked the first thug, causing all three to flee.
