During the students' interstellar journey on the Starship, a warship appears and hijacks the vessel using energy cannons and a binding net. The pirates board and screen passengers using Intellect-Brain data, keeping wealthy individuals as kidnapping targets and disposing of those without value. When they discover Su Xi is a student of the Academy of Divinity, the pirates panic and flee immediately, even repairing the hole they made in the ship before leaving.
