Qiao Qiusheng and Qiao Heping bought four jin each of beef and pork from the state-run meat shop for the birthday celebration. Beef cost fifty-three cents per jin and pork fifty-five cents per jin. Dishes included braised pork with bean starch sheets, stir-fried beef with green peppers, and red-braised pork.
