Also referred to as Old Zhang, the deceased husband of the original owner and now Qiao Yu. He was a high school graduate who worked as an accountant in the brigade out of gratitude. He set a fire (possibly with Mrs. Zhang's involvement) and was sentenced to ten years of hard labor on a farm. He is currently imprisoned.
