He is furious about Zhou Tingyun's refusal to marry and initially suspects his grandson might be gay before realizing the real issue involves Ming Zhao. He threw a porcelain cup at Zhou Tingyun's forehead during their argument, causing a bleeding wound. He is disappointed and worried that Zhou Tingyun's inappropriate feelings for his adopted sister could ruin both their lives.
