Zhou Guangyi is a middle-aged man with poor character who serves as a minor antagonist in the story. He is slick-tongued, greedy, and shirks work. Since joining the survivor group, he did the least, ate the most, never went out to look for food, and dumped simple jobs like collecting rainwater on others. He killed Ma Xiaoming with a blood-stained scalpel, claiming that Ma Xiaoming wanted to betray the group and side with the thugs downstairs. However, Vice Director Wang and many other survivors did not believe his story. After killing Ma Xiaoming, Zhou Guangyi tried to approach Shen Yi to claim credit for removing a threat and to beg for food, attempting to use moral blackmail by calling himself Shen Yi's elder. He confidently believed that Shen Yi would not dare shoot him in front of so many people. However, Shen Yi shot him dead in the forehead without any explanation, simply because Zhou Guangyi talked too much and provoked him. Zhou Guangyi died with a displeased expression on his face, never imagining he would be killed for uttering a few more words.
