The son of Minister Zheng Rong of the Ministry of Works. He hosted a banquet for fellow candidates at Fan Tower and invited Pei Changfeng and others. He wore a vermilion-purple robe of newly woven Shu silk. He praised Pei Changfeng's palace exam performance and predicted he would rise to the Hanlin Academy.
