The father of Zhao Wu Lang and husband of Zhao Mu. He was a general of Yi Zhou who had been dispatched to inspect a neighboring county before hastily returning upon receiving a letter about his son's troubles. He appeared dust-covered and weary, looking several years older. He kowtowed to apologize to Zhao Tianhe, accepting responsibility for failing to teach his son, and received ten military strikes. Though he resolved to abandon his son, he softened upon hearing his son's agonized screams but ultimately completely abandoned him after learning his son revealed how his half-sister helped him and confessed about Wu Shi's pregnancy.
